Estimated susceptibility

Does an in situ electronic alert during antibiotic prescribing warning about predicted resistance safely reduce bug-drug mismatches?

Question: In patients with Neutropenic sepsis , do patients who have estimated resistance of x% to piperacillin- tazobactam improve if a digital nudge suggests a broader spectrum antibiotic?

Question: In patients with UTI and sepsis associated, do patients who have estimated resistance of x% to the prescribed antibiotic have less bug drug mismatches?

The idea would be:

  1. Take patients with Neutropenic sepsis

  2. If being prescribed Piperacillin Tazobactam and predicted resistance or predicted ESBL rate high to this drug but not predicted to be resistant to Meropenem then randomise to Meropenem,. The control group is patients who stay on Piperacillin Tazobactam and look at non-inferiority?
